The follicular phase in pigs: Follicle populations, circulating hormones, follicle factors and oocytes
نویسنده
چکیده
The predominant pattern of follicle development in pigs is characterized by continuous activation, slow growth to the antral stage, and rapid growth to 4 to 5 mm followed by atresia. The only time that this pattern is broken is when a small portion of the follicle population is selected for ovulation. The mechanisms that regulate the selection of ovulatory follicles are not well understood. However, the ovulatory cohort shifts from FSH to LH dependence at the expense of the nonovulatory follicles as indicated by the following: 1) decreased secretion of FSH, and 2) decreased expression of the FSH receptor and increased expression of the LH receptor. The selection of ovulatory follicles may be dependent on the interaction of members of the intraovarian IGF system to maintain a high level of IGFI bioavailability. The maintenance of a proliferating population of antral follicles is critically dependent on

Regulation of Follicular Growth and Development in Sheep
This manuscript reviews the present knowledge related to folliculogenesis in sheep.Folliculogenesis starts with formation of primordial follicles before birth, present as a pool containing a certain number of follicles. By the attainment of puberty, a group of follicles from that pool starts to grow, a process known as primordial follicle activation or recruitment. The number of growing primord...

The primary therapeutic goal for the oncology patient is survival. Recent advances in diagnoses and treatment of neoplasia have resulted in an ever-increasing number of patients being cured and resuming a normal life. However, recognized side effects of treatments used to eradicate malignancies are temporary or permanent sterility. The cryopreservation of ovarian tissue harvested before cancer ...
متن کاملAn in vitro Comparative Study of Follicle Stimulating Hormone (FSH) and Activin A Effects on the Maturation of Preantral Follicle-Enclosed Oocytes from Immature Syrian Mice
Objectives: It was aimed to investigate the effects of different doses of follicle stimulating hormone (FSH) and activin A on the growth and maturation of preantral mouse follicles during the in vitro culture. Methods: Preantral follicles (90-100 µm in diameter) were harvested from 6-8 week-old Syrian mice and cultured in TCM199 culture medium for 6 days to see the effect of FSH and Activin A...
متن کاملO-30: Impact of Environment Tobacco Smoke Exposure on Oxidative Stress in Antral Follicle and Assisted Reproduction Outcomes
Background: Cigarette smoke contains many oxidants and may alter the human reproduction by inducing oxidative stress (OS) in both active and passive smokers. This study was designed to evaluation the effect of environment tobacco smoke (ETS) exposure on oxidative stress in follicular follicle and assisted reproduction outcomes. Materials and Methods: A prospective study was carried out on 236 i...
متن کاملP-81: Discontinuation of rLH Two Days before HCG may Increase the Number of Oocytes Retrieved in IVF
Background: Administration of recombinant luteinizing hormone (rLH) in controlled ovarian hyperstimulation may benefit a subpopulation of patients. However, late follicular phase administration of high doses of rLH may also reduce the size of the follicular cohort and promote monofollicular development. Materials and Methods: To determine if rLH in late follicular development had a negative imp...
